Description

"My first experience with Universal Yarn was seeing them at a trade show. They had the smallest booth available, and only two people were doing all the work of meeting with yarn shop owners, designers and media. Having worked in the yarn industry for years, I recognized the signs of a new yarn company, and I immediately saw the potential and inspiration in their wonderful yarns. In just a few short years, our relationship has blossomed as they've invited me to design with their yarns. I'm so impressed with the variety, colors and innovative products that my hob of designing creative projects is made much easier. Thank you, Hal and Jean, for including me as part of the company family!" -Lorna Miser Photography: Donna Jernigan Photography

Pattern Information
"This easy-to-wear sweater is as comfortable as your favorite t-shirt, but so much prettier. I couldn't resist adding a little feminine flair to the hems--pretty, but subtle. I love how the soft stripe colors blend gently into each other."

Pattern Information
"I really had fun with this project. I enjoyed the lace hem and started using a checked lace pattern for the body, intending to work the entire body using the same stitch pattern throughout. As I started knitting, though, I thought a staggered line of checks would be far more interesting, so I changed gears partway into the sweater and love the results!"

Pattern Information
" I put some of my favorite things together for this top. I love changing stitch patterns to make a sampler and adding a touch of color to play up the texture. Links is one of my favorite yarns--I love the hand, texture and colors. Pair this top with the Granite Bay Sweater for a coordinating twin set."

"I used the same sampler stitches for this project as those used in the Sutter Street Tank Top. I thought a zipper closure would be something different and fun. If you prefer a button cardigan, just add buttonholes to the front bands as you're knitting. Change the colors to match the Sutter Street Tank Top for a perfect twin set!"

Sacramento Vest
Sacramento Vest
Pattern Information
"I wanted to keep this top simple, with no edging neede, so I incorporated the rib-like stitch pattern into the entire vest. A strong stitch pattern like this one really shows up in variegated colors. Since the whole body is worked in one piece, there's very little finishing--a simple three-needle bind off attaches the shoulders and a row of crochet to make button loops completes the front."

Silver Lake Top
Pattern Information
"In this project, I used two variegateds and a solid color to create a fun striped colorway. The textured stitch is fun but would have been too fussy for the entire garment, so I used it just for the bottom border and to accentuate the side slits. If the deep, wide V-neck is too revealing for your taste, layer the top over a colorful tank or camisole.?
