Windfall is my third collection of patterns featuring the wonderful yarns from the Wisdom Yarns' Poems Collection. I'm thrilled that several of the colorways that I have developed for the line are featured in these pages!
Herein you will find a cardigan using my distinctive surface weaving technique, a lacy shawl, a large scale mitered serape, and several other designs combining the Poems Silk Solids and the self-striping Poems yarns. You will also find a twisted stitch pullover and hat and scarf combo featuring Forte, the new super-bulky yarn in the Poems Collection.
The names of the patterns are female characters out of the Cervantes novel, Don Quixote. The name Windfall represents my feelings about establishing a home in America once again. For a long time the idea seemed quixotic, which led to the names of the designs. Oddly enough, Ulrika, my unwitting stylist showed up at the shoot with a pin for the Maritornes design depicting Don Quixote riding his donkey! Happy knitting!

“If any book deserves to be called “The Felt
Maker’s Bible,” this is it. White, founder of Magpie Designs Felting
Studio (www.magpiefelt.com), pours a rich draught of felt-making
information into this manual, covering basic felt-making techniques as
well as needle, nuno, cobweb, 3-D, and carved techniques and featuring
46 projects. But what makes this a title of lasting value for libraries
is the depth of solid information it offers on the craft and its
history, on various artists, and on related topics like setting up a
felt-making studio, teaching felt making, and leading community
felt-making projects. Highly recommended for large public and academic

These gauges, developed with suggestions and feedback from Leslie and Laura of TheKnitGirllls,
offer a slip-resistant 4 inch cross measurement, for nice confident
gauge counting. Each end of the cross has a set of little teeth that
gently but firmly hold the swatch in place and prevent it from shifting
around while you count. One side of each arm is marked in whole
inch increments, with 1/4" marks between. The opposite side is marked in
whole centimeter increments. These can make a great gift to a
knitting friend or family member: they come packaged in a clear pillow
box for a nice presentation.
This shawl is worked from the top down in one piece. Uses 3 balls of Universal Yarn Bamboo pop.
This scarf is worked flat in one piece. This pattern is intended to use almost all of C1 and C2, if you would like a longer or wider scarf or knit at a tighter gauge than given, purchase an extra skein each of C1 and C2.
This shawl is worked from the top down. The green (color A) and purple (color B) color changes are achieved by using the intarsia method. When changing from A to B and vice versa, be sure to bring the new color up and around the old color, putting a single twist in the yarns. This will prevent any holes from forming in the fabric. Cut the C color at the end of every C stripe.
